Book Week Character Parade
The school playground was a hub-bub of excitement as students arrived on the morning of the Book Character Parade. By 9:30am all classes were gathered in the Atrium to take their turn to walk around the Foundation students who were seated in the middle of parade catwalk. Once again there was a vast range of characters including perennial favourites like The Cat in The Hat, Where’s Wally, Queen of Hearts, Robin Hood etc. It was great to see some very innovative characters and costumes such as Jack, complete with his beanstalk, Gandalf from The Hobbit and new characters such as Cosentino the magician, and Nannie from Nannie Loves, one of the shortlisted Book Week books. Congratulations to all students who put in a wonderful effort researching their character and preparing their costume. A very special thank you to all the parents who supported their children and made this day a most memorable one.
The theme for Book Week this year was Escape to Everywhere; a theme that conjures up images of new and exciting worlds that we can lose ourselves in when we read books. The teacher and support staff of Cedar Campus took the theme quite literally and dressed as prisoners who at the end of the parade attempted to ‘escape to everywhere’.
